We are honoured to welcome guest speaker Ms. Madeleine Paquin, President and CEO of Logistec Corporation and chairwoman of the St. Lawrence and Great Lakes Trade Gateway Leadership Council. Ms. Paquin will present the St. Lawrence and Great Lakes Trade Gateway study.

We will also take advantage of this occasion to express our gratefulness to Marc Gagnon, Sodes Executive Director [1985-2008].


The next Quebec Marine Day will take place on October 28. The theme of this year's edition is Marine Transportation: A Part of Quebec for the Last 400 Years. During this event, small groups of industry representatives will meet with Ministers and opposition members, with a view to sensitizing them to the industry's priority issues.

Québec City, August 26, 2008 - Mr. Pierre Prefontaine, Chairman of SODES' Board of
Directors, is pleased to announce the nomination of Mr. Robert Masson as President of
this organization. Mr. Masson, who started his mandate on the 4th of August, replaces
former executive director, Marc Gagnon.

We are honoured to welcome guest speaker Mr. Emmanuel Guy of the Research Chair in Maritime Transportation of UQAR, which is partially financy by the marine industry. The subject of the conference will be: Public Policies to Increase Marine Transportation Competitiveness. Examples from Europe and Oceania.

- The members of the St. Lawrence Economic Development Council (Sodes) today discerned the 2007 St. Lawrence Award to Groupe Desgagnés. Exceptionally, the awards ceremony was held in the heart of the Old Capital, in the Château Frontenac, to mark Québec City's 400th anniversary. The three finalists were Groupe Desgagnés, Groupe Océan and IMTT-Québec, three Québec City-based companies (Presse release).

Trois-Rivières (Québec), January 22, 2008 - The St. Lawrence Economic Development Council (Sodes) received a financial contribution from Canada Economic Development and Transports Québec for a study on the St. Lawrence - Great Lakes trade gateway.

In the presence of the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Québec regions and MP for Jonquière-Alma, and Julie Boulet, Minister of Transport of Québec, Minister responsible for the Mauricie region and Member for Laviolette, Sodes also revealed the details of the study.
