Two more members at SODES: Sillery Distribution Centre and Transat Québec Saint-Malo

À la SODES

Sillery Distribution Centre

The Sillery Distribution Centre operates a grain terminal specialized in the transhipment of feed grain, including wheat, barley, soya, canola and corn. With a storage capacity of 75 000 tonnes, this terminal is fully intermodal and can be supplied by laker and by train.  As the supply source for many cooperatives and farmers located in the important farming area on the south shore opposite Québec City and the eastern part of the province, it enjoys direct rail access. The main deleguate will be Guylain Jean, Executive Director.

Transat Québec Saint-Malo

Voile Internationale Québec (OBSL) and Gestev, the organizer of the 8th edition of the highseas race “Transat Québec Saint-Malo”, are joining SODES. The main delegate will be Patrice Drouin, Gestev President and CEO.

An innovation marking 2012 is maximizing economic impacts and offering increased visibility to cities/towns along the St. Lawrence by organizing activities for locals and visitors. Competitors will be challenged to race to a mark in the River for a cash prize offered by a given city. The race promotes its two home ports, Québec and Saint-Malo, and showcases the challenging St. Lawrence, where sailors are forced to deploy more ruses and tactics than usual.

The event will run July 14-22 in Québec City’s Old Port. Over 200 000 visitors are expected.
