Cerescorp to get on board with environmental program
The world’s biggest retailers are jumping on the green bandwagon and operators of container terminals like Cerescorp Company at Fairview Cove in Halifax want to show they’re with the program, David Bolduc, executive director of the Green Marine initiative, said Wednesday.
“Many of the operators of big terminals in Canada and the United States are implementing environmental programs,” Bolduc said. “They are looking for some way to measure their initiatives and give them credibility.”
He made the comment after Ceres Terminals Inc. of New Jersey enlisted all of its operations into the Green Marine program. Becoming part of it means its container terminals will be subjected to strict annual environmental assessments on a list of controls that run the gamut from air emissions to storm water runoff.
